Nested Transactions with Multiple Commit Points: an Approach to the Structuring of Advance0 Database Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
A new type of transactions for higher level applfcation programing in systems with databases is introduced. These so-called 'nested transactions with multiple commit points' support operations over multiple applications either atomically, fndependent, or in a combination of both. Furthermore, it is strictly distinguished between transactions as units of work and transactions as a part of so-called 'conaft spheres' and 'backout spheres', which provides more generality and flexibility than existing models.

Enhancing the Success Ratio of Distributed Real-Time Nested Transactions
The traditional transaction models are not suited to real-time database systems (RTDBSs). Indeed, many current applications managed by these systems necessitate a kind of transactions where some of the ACID properties must be ignored or adapted. In this paper, we propose a real-time concurrency control protocol and an adaptation of the Two-Phase Commit Protocol based on the nested transaction m...
متن کاملA hybrid approach for database intrusion detection at transaction and inter-transaction levels
Nowadays, information plays an important role in organizations. Sensitive information is often stored in databases. Traditional mechanisms such as encryption, access control, and authentication cannot provide a high level of confidence. Therefore, the existence of Intrusion Detection Systems in databases is necessary. In this paper, we propose an intrusion detection system for detecting attacks...
متن کاملRecovery and Performance of Atomic Commit Processing in Distributed Database Systems
A transaction is traditionally deened so as to provide the properties of atomicity, consistency, integrity, and durability (ACID) for any operation it performs. In order to ensure the atomicity of distributed transactions, an atomic commitprotocol needs to be followed by all sites participating in a transaction execution to agree on the nal outcome, that is, commit or abort. A variety of commit...
متن کاملConcurrency Control Monitor for Nested Transactions based on Autonomous Agents
Transaction processing monitors featuring nested transactions are in the core model for mission-critical applications. In this paper, an atomic commit protocol for nested transactions over mobile devices combined with a concurrency control mechanism is introduced. The monitor features a flexible and goal persistent technique dealing with the loss of communication – a latent risk in mobile envir...
متن کاملSecurity Correctness for Secure Nested Transactions
This article considers the synthesis of two long-standing lines of research in computer security: security correctness for multilevel databases, and language-based security. The motivation is an approach to supporting multilevel and multilateral security for a wide class of enterprise applications, those of concurrent transactional applications. The approach extends nested transactions with ret...
